Environmental footprint

Proactively reducing the environmental footprint from the complete value chain by working actively with emission reduction, resource use and energy efficiency is central to Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æâ€™s daily operations.

Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ works to use resources as efficiently as possible in our operations and in our production processes. Our efforts are built on the precautionary principle and the lifecycle perspective aiming to contribute to a circular economy. Our core value ‘elimination of waste’ guides us in our work to continuously improve our processes in areas such as CO2 emissions, energy, waste and water. 

  

Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æâ€™s strategic plan includes energy efficiency, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, reduction in water usage and reduction of waste in total and increased recycling as a natural and integral part of business. 

Our product development and all our production sites are certified according to ISO 14001. Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æâ€™s environmental management system builds on ISO 14001 and is regulated in a global environmental policy. The purpose of the policy is to ensure that Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ operates according to the highest global standard in all relevant environmental areas.

To manage our climate impact, we are committed to reducing emissions throughout our entire value chain and across all relevant scopes. We have set one strong CO2 reduction target that apply to the whole company, approved by the Science Based Targets initiative. By 2025, Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ aims to achieve a 50 percent CO2 reduction in both our industrial and commercial operations compared to 2015. This is complemented with CO2 reduction target related to our logistics.

 

Almost all greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted by our operations is CO2, derived from direct and indirect energy use. GHG emissions have been greatly reduced by energy efficiency measures and the achievement of 100% fossil-free electricity in our industrial operations.

One of our priorities is continuous improvements of energy efficiency. Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ has decided on a target to reduce the usage of energy within the production: by 2025 we aim to reduce energy usage by 25 percent from its level in 2015. To support this target all Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ units have developed energy roadmaps and are now continuing with execution of improvement activities. All Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ production sites use a LEAN inspired method to identify and eliminate energy waste. 

It is important for Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ to have a trustworthy way of handling waste. Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ has one target in place to increase reuse and recycling within production: by 2025 we aim to reduce the amount of waste material that is not recycled by 50 percent from its level in 2015. To support this target, all units have studied material flows to identify ways to reduce waste and increase recycling of materials.

Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æâ€™s production processes are not water-intensive, and water is primarily used in closed systems. There are continuous improvement efforts to reduce water use and thereby also the

management of wastewater. Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ reviews its production facilities to identify impact in areas with limited water resources. In 2020 a new target was set to reduce water use per produced vehicle with 40 percent 2015-2025.
